What is Coronavirus?

  • Coronavirus is actually a family of viruses, coronaviridae, classified by their “crown-like” appearance.

  • COVID-19 spreads from person to person via droplets, either through direct contact with an infected surface or by inhaling infected saliva/mucus droplets.

  • The incubation period for the novel coronavirus can range from 1-14 days, usually averaging about 5 days. Common symptoms include fever, tiredness, shortness of breath, and dry cough; other symptoms include aches/pains, sore throat, and nausea.

How Can I Help?

  • Wash your hands regularly with soap and warm water for at least 20 seconds, or clean them with alcohol-based hand rub.

  • Maintain at least 2-meter (~7 ft) distance between you and people coughing or sneezing.

  • Avoid touching your face, especially your eyes, nose, mouth.

  • Cover your mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing.

  • Stay home if you feel unwell.

  • Refrain from smoking and other activities that weaken the lungs.

  • Practice physical distancing by avoiding unnecessary travel and staying away from large groups of people.
